Hey Danielle – thanks for stopping by!

I have not noticed any ill-effects to speak of using this brush cleaner. However, I have noticed that in some cases it feels like there’s a remaining film/residue on the hairs after using the cleaner. It’s not so much that it’s very noticeable or that it keeps you from wanting to use or being able to use the brush – however, I still like to give them regular cleanings with traditional brush shampoo and water. That seems to give the best “squeaky clean”.

My favorite use for this brush cleaner is with foundation/concealer brushes and lip brushes. It’s really hard to get liquid, creamy, or products with oil out of makeup brushes – but this cleaner really dissolves the tough stuff way better than simple brush shampoo can. My other favorite feature is that it dries QUICK. If I need to remove color from any brush, I can do that and have a dry brush ready to use again in a few seconds.

Hey awesome post! I’ve just started using this brush cleaner and I have the same question you originally had, if it would affect the longevity of the brushes. I was wondering if you’d noticed any ill-effects since you made this post last July?
