Nesting Total Bag Organizer by Lori Greiner

picture-11OMGZ!!!  Once upon a time, Trish McEvoy came to our store in Houston to do a personal appearance event.  She had a fabulous Bottega Veneta bag that I’ve wanted one of ever since.  She also had this amazing weighted compartment ring that she used to keep everything organized in the freeform hobo style bag.  I’ve really not come across anything like it until I was looking at QVC’s Today’s Special Value.  Say hello to the Nesting Total Bag Organizer by Lor Greiner!!!

“these three pieces–a large-sized organizer, medium-sized organizer, and cosmetic case–fit inside your handbag and let you customize the interior storage space to give you immediate, effortless access to all your take-along necessities…”

Use the pieces alone or nest them (think Russian nesting doll…)

I SOOOOOOOOO want one of these.  My big shapeless purses are a NIGHTMARE with stuff swimming around in them!

lusting after Bobbi Brown’s Limited Edition “BBU Palette”

picture-2

I’m always looking for space saving solutions for my artist kit. Toting numerous bottles, pans, and containers to and from makeup gigs can quickly become a burden…enter the BBU Palette. While this wonderful item will put a dent in your pocket book at $250, it’s less expensive than buying foundation, concealer, etc. individually.  Best part – you don’t have to agonize of the shade selection!  Inspired by the palettes used by Bobbi herself and makeup pros at fashion shows and photo shoots – this palette contains all the shades an artist needs to work with a variety of skin tones. One side of the palette contains 9 shades of Corrector and 12 shades of Creamy Concealer. The other side contains 17 shades of Foundation Stick and an empty well for custom mixing.  I think I’ll be saving up to add this item to my kit (unless I get a generous gift, haha).

Bobbi also has an  Artist Lip Palette.  I almost purchased this one for my kit, but ultimately I decided to skip it.  I’ve been hand filling Japonesque Double-Sided Professional Lipstick Palette Kits with MAC, Trish McEvoy, Bobbi Brown, etc. lipcolors for my kit for YEARS now.  Bobbi’s lip palette has 42 lipcolors for $200 – the Japonesque palette has 35 wells and costs $29.  My MAC Pro Membership puts whole tubes of lipstick at just under $9 each.  Buying 35+ different lipcolors individually and hand filling the pans may be a bit more money and time.  However, for my money – I do get a lot more product and control over the selection of shades.

Confessions of a Beauty Addict by Nadine Haobsh released today!

I’ve been excited to get my hands on this novel! I’ve already read the 1st chapter (you can, too…it’s linked for download on her site). We’re pretty much ALL product junkies and beauty addicts…so this should be a fun read! I will give you a review after I get my copy and finish it.

Make Up For Ever Professional: Dany Sanz Limited Edition Palette

palette

SNIFF! SNIFF!

How did I miss this????  I was watching Marela’s Art Inspired Tutorial/look on makeupgeek.com (great site by the way!!!!), and I fell into a deep spiral of makeup jealousy!  She has this amazing Make Up For Ever palette from Sephora.  So, of course – I raced on over to look it up, but was dismayed to discover that the set was limited edition and no longer in stock.  It contained 30 eyeshadows and blushes picked out by Dany Sanz (Paris based Creater and Artistic Director of Make Up For Ever – see below for a video of her in action).  Apparently, there were only 100 available so I was quite late to the game.  I even looked to see if anyone was selling on ebay…but nope! I suppose it was kinda pricey at $390, but if you’ve ever worked with these products – you know how amazingly pigmented and wonderful they are.

SNIFF! SNIFF!

Oh well, I’ll find other makeup to buy!

In this video, Dany Sanz demonstrates a Fall 2008 – Golden Look. I really find her work quite inspirational!

shhhh! it’s a secret…ideeli.com

Recently while scouring the web, I discovered ideeli.com. It’s an invite only shopping site. You get access to deep discounts on sought-after products and luxury designer goods. You have to be invited (follow this invite link) or have an invite code. Last week, there was a special on Fendi bags and wallets for like 45% off the retail price and Chloe sunglasses for 72% off!!! Wahooo! I feel kinda dumb for telling you this – because now I have more of you to compete with when purchasing goodies! However, it’s too good of a dish not to share!!!

*Edit: I just purchased this Joe’s Jeans bag (not a particularly fancy brand) which is cute, black, and all leather for $97 – original price I think was $225. What a deal!

Laura Mercier goodies in the mail today!

Yeah, I definitely took advantage of that 25% off holiday promo I spoke of a couple of weeks ago…

I had not picked up the mail in a few days, but I got it today!  YAY!

  • For myself, I snagged the $80.00 Mini Brush Set – 5 brushes plus 1 double ended brush…all a little longer than a tube of lipstick.  With the discount, it was only $60!  (Click on the images, and they will take you to the items on the Laura Mercier web site.)  The adorable platinum colored case perfectly holds the brushes AND a compact of color – see Master Tool Box below.
  • I also grabbed the $45 Touch-Up Brush Set for about $34.  I wanted to buy a set of brushes as a gift for a friend, and this seemed to be a great fit.  It’s also in a platinum colored case – but a touch smaller than the one for the Mini Brush Set.
  • Finally, I grabbed the $68 Master Tool Box for $51.  I haven’t decided yet if I want to give this with the Touch-Up brushes…or keep it myself!!!  It’s SO CUTE.  I mean…I have ton of makeup…but…can you say perfect travel and/or touch up kit? If I grab the Flawless Face Kit from Sephora, throw in a an Eye Basic, a mascara, a blush, and a lipliner…I’d pretty much have a WHOLE tiny stash of makeup with applicators…

Whoa…I better slow my roll! Also, my goodies are right on time…as I am staying away from home and didn’t get a chance to pack my makeup. Must…try…not…to…use…Master…Tool…Box…

check out Tricia Sawyer

I don’t know how many of you are already familiar with makeup artist Tricia Sawyer – but you should DEFINITELY check out her web site at trisciasawyer.com!  She is a pretty gifted artist – and she’s done a lot of film work (and a lot of work with Sharon Stone).  The reason her site just came to mind – I was trying to think of what palettes are really great to have for my kit (on the long long list of makeup items I’d like to add to my already expansive collection).

You can check out her Icon Palettes on her site as well.  This is the Sharon palette:

Also, check out her TUTORIALS!!!  They absolutely rock – I keep them on my iPod Touch to watch whenever I get a chance.  You can watch them in flash on her site, download them for quicktime, or even subscribe to her video podcast in iTunes (there are links on her site).

everything for me?? why not?

aren’t we the people that blog all narcissists?? believing that we’re interesting enough that someone somehwere is reading our rambling…

yup…

anyway, a list of all the things I want? why not?

we’ll start this category off with something really obscene…mind you I took a picture of this in a magazine yesterday with my camera phone and sent it to my boyfriend…

yeah I know…normally, doing that or posting this would be perceived (justifiably so) as psycho girl hinting to boyfriend it’s time to give in and buy the ring…but yeah that’s so not me…plus we have a long running joke of doing outrageous and stupid things and saying stupid things to “play” annoy each other…

so really it’s just that I saw this and thought “ooooh purty!”
